Fresh Retail Refrigeration in Melbourne – butchers shop

The team at MNK recently provided a solution to update an older refrigeration asset for a local butcher.

Think “old school” butchers coldplate that has operated for so long that nobody gives it a second thought – until it stops working !

Refrigerant unknown, no controls, no labels – happy days !

Original charge removed for disposal, new R134A TXV and shutdown solenoid fitted at the plate.

Condensing unit was removed from the roof for repurposing as a paper weight. MNK specified a new Patton outdoor condensing unit, complete with oil separator and suction accumulator – both pretty useful additions for a coldplate application.

Butchers coldplate window display now operating happily on R134A with head pressure control and shutdown solenoid for plate wash out.

Upgrading older refrigeration units for more modern solutions has numerous benefits to the end user, modern units are inherently more energy efficient than older units straight up. However we also do our research and find the best match for each situation and application.

Reduced running costs due to energy efficient equipment and controls, consideration to choice of refrigerant and future environmental impacts are also a relevant ingredient to a satisfactory outcome.

If your aging refrigeration assets are costing a fortune in energy consumption, maybe it’s time to look at what could be gained with a more modern solution.
